Dad's ship in Charleston Harbour! Destroyer Charles F. Hughes (DD-428) rescued 14 survivors (including four American Red Cross nurses) from the sunken Norwegian steamship Vigrid Off East Bay Street Charleston, S.C. Another shipmate.... Among the fleet during VJ Day Surrender Signing! And then home to Charleston! Little accident to the bow! Overhaul and prep at Virginia Shipyard! At sea with new paint job! Looking for the bad guys!
